I wanna see it but at the same time feel like it won’t live up to it’s hype

basically a Hollywood movie with Korean dialogue

I don't know if it was just me but I went in thinking it was gonna be a light horror film- which it isnt. The marketing made it seem that way though for some reason. Great movie

is this a backhanded compliment towards the film or just a straight up insult?

He insulting it. Parasite is a fun take on family structure. It isn't perfect but was definitely a fun ride in the theater. I guess when he says hollywood he is saying in a way that its americanized in some ways or not fully engrossed in their culture so that it can be accessible for viewers. It attempts to make you laugh, cry, smile and learn at the same time but doesn't overtly challenge any ideas of class that someone had when walking in.

Yeah, i’m not in a hurry to see it or nothing.
I’ll let it breathe, and see people’s retrospectives later

Oh no wonder casuals calling it film of 2019

Because in theaters it was an experience. Maybe its just because I haven't seen a movie with so many different tones of suspense, comedy, drama in theaters in a little but was fun to see audience react and humor be more than " ha d***s" or basic american punchlines that will ferrell or office nerds repeat over and over ad nausea. Its a movie and experience where you have to be there. You have to be present and have focus to read the subtitles and get engrossed. I think subtitles and the theater experience help it. Its one where it felt worth it to see in a theater
vs Joker although I liked it the audience was pretty quiet opening weekend due to the mass shooting hype and everything. Also less focused because there are no subtitles and its less of the range of emotions and more sad darkness with the light moment being the midget exit.
Parasite isn't the coming of christ but it is a film that is memorable. Will I hugely rush to watch it again? No but I don't rewatch most movies. Parasite doesnt try to be a happy ending or overly predictable
I havent seen Peanut Butter Falcon, 1917, Honeyboy, Waves, Once Upon a Time, Irishmen, Marriage story so I got quite a while before I can declare my movie of year. At this rate probably by march will see all of them then know. Parasite not bad but I feel like something else may impact me more

ah I think it does tackle the habitus quite well. In the end the real parasite was the rich family, while appearing super nice. Their form of exploitation didn't need succumb to any stereotype of capitalist figures in movies like say Daniel Plainview. In fact, they were much closer to reality imo because they wouldn't let the lower class enter because of the way they behave, think, feel or better smell. They would let them into their house and see their wealth but also makibg clear that they are below them in subtle ways. In the end it only became explicit.
On top of it you have a mixture of a Hitchcock thriller and a Blake Edwards-type Screwball comedy executed with much thought and multiple layers of humor and thrill building on top of each other. It's dynamic visuals and the pacing are better than ever in a Bong film. Just about everything works in the film aside from the narration at the end.
Also, saying that being influenced by Hollywood being bad is kinda weird to say the least.

I agree I just can't help but feel it was made accessible even his speech hinted at that. Although he was proud of the award he was like imagine all the works like these and those that go deeper that can be experienced if they can simply get past subtitles. If we can simply focus on what we are watching and accept that they are speaking another laguage or another culture without viewing it as betrayal to the Hollywood we grew up with
thread worthy
Mods sleep so Bane knew it was his chance. This man literally waits til all the mods are sleep like he lured the cops into the sewers in Rises. Then he makes a s***post to inflate his ego about his predictions about a movie awards and get recognition and s*** on Irishmen for the100th time but he is our Bane. Its what we know him for
You gave 2 predictions for almost each category and the only thing you predicted that wasn’t the consensus was Mendes in director
