anyone have experience with this? I got put on a low dosage, 20 mg per day. I still haven't bought the prescription, I heard that it can give you depression and anxiety, but apparently its one of the rare side effects. I can deal with the physical side effects, but I'm more worried bout the mental ones. is it worth it?
i was on it when i was bout 16 or so and it obliterated my acne tbh. these days i get fewer than 10 or so zits across a 3-4 month span, whereas before my acne was v widespread across my chin, forehead, and nose (blackheads)
couldn't really accurately tell you if it affected my mental back then. i was def anxious back then, not depressed, but also i was a high schooler
point is it's potentially very good at getting rid of your acne. i don't have much anecdotal reason to believe it'd cause you lasting mental effects, especially since accutane is not a d*** you take for the rest of your life. and i feel rather well adjusted rn, so i would argue that maybe i did not experience significantly adverse mental effects

hey OP im in pharmacy and know a lot about acne have you tried anything else? theres a lot of other stuff that we usually try people on before isotretinoin, especially orally because thats almost the last thing we use
Yeah I took it for 6 months last year. Totally cleared up my skin. Have only had one or two zits since, nothing major at all. My skin was very sensitive, burned easily and dandruff was wild. Didn't have to shampoo my hair, because it just didn't produce oil anymore. Any heavy exercise left me in pain, but that faded after 2 weeks off it. If your acne is severe, I would really recommend accutane. Remember you can't drink alcohol while you're on it. Even though I did. A lot.

Did it. Also suffer from mental health issues. S***s definitely a last resort, but its legitimately magic. Cured all my acne, left minimal scarring, and the only side effect is some mild exema on my face since I live in a desert.
There were times I cried because I hated how it made me look and feel. There were times I had intrusive thoughts. There were times were I completely disassociated for weeks. Without a doubt it sucked.
Would I do it again though? Without a doubt. I get to wear white t shirts again. I no longer wake up to a pillow covered in blood. I like how my face looks. I even get attention from the opposite sex, and have the confidence to act on it.
Cured my acne years ago only get few pimples now if i dont wash my pillow case but it gave me dry skin and lips and depression

Had this exact experience OP. Don’t sweat it, s*** will destroy your acne and you’ll be happy

yeah I've tried antibiotics and a bunch of other stuff. it's not super severe bad acne but in times of stress it flares up,

lool I can't give up alcohol, I've been on a week long festival on antibiotics, drinking from morning till I passed out. if u drank alot on it and still cleared up, I think I'll be fine.

What u mean by how it made u look? did the accutane do something bad for your looks other than removing the acne? u felt like it gave u mood swings? cause I have those pretty bad already, to the point where ppl call me bipolar lol

Oh damn I thought my acne was bad. But my s*** is mild compared to how yall describe yours. Shame cause my acne is more mild than light, but not extreme enough to get onto medication.

Temporary depression or permanent?

Alcohol does not impact the effectiveness of this d***. Accutane is absorbed through your liver, which puts a lot of stress on it because it is a powerful d***. So obviously drinking liquor while on accutane could cause some serious damage to your liver. I consider myself very lucky to be in good health after drinking as much as I did on accutane, and I really advise against doing as I did. I wish you good luck if you do choose to start taking accutane, just please exercise caution.

soo basically stay away from hard alcohol and don't get s***faced, tipsy at most?
how long did it take before yall saw results??? I've heard of cases where people see results within a week.

Well honestly I think drinking at all would be a bad idea. However, as a young man myself, I know that is out of the question. So yeah. Just chill on it for a while. Once you get off accutane, then you can get loaded again. It'll be over before you know it.
Temporary depression or permanent?
it was temporary (only when i was on it)
started feeling alot better after i got off
I was on it for 6 months in 2018-2019. Definitely difficult, but it totally changed my life. No long lasting side effects.
yeah. was on it at 16-17. completely got rid of my acne. it defintiely made me depressed tbh tho.
