let’s talk

so when prince entered the music scene very quickly he became known for his extended singles

the usual practice was to take a section of the record, cut it with a razor and loop that section of tape

prince’s method was to add the tape back in and bring back the musical passage elements that people never heard

maybe an extended solo or an extended riff

sometimes in the late eighties he started remixing the single more frequently as the trend caught on he would expand to several remixes bringing in other remix producers for a chance to collaborate with the track 😎
