    That only happened in the west, eastern Christian empires specifically the Byzantines were far more advanced and while a lot of war broke out between the Muslims and Christians in the east there was also plenty of collaboration. Many mosque designs have late Antiquity Roman influence for example. There’s a reason why the European Renaissance began not long after Constantinople fell, a big reason was because of both the Ancient Hellenistic as well as Arabic knowledge brought over by Greek escapees
