You said it yourself, we make people starve to join the military. But y’all mad at the starving people?

I am, for taking the bait and somehow reconciling themselves with genocide for a hot meal and school

The MIC puts people in situations where they have little to no other options. And u guys mad at those people for choosing to eat instead of die and not the system that creates this dynamic?

People from privileged backgrounds don’t join the military because they don’t have to

It's rly not when you consider how much i'm opposed to the US military and its role in the world

Like if this same scenario was about the military in nazi germany you wouldn't say this

I just think it's closer to that morally than most americans would say

“The ethics” bro you are literally validating and advancing the predatory practices of the MIC by joining the army because it gives you food and education in exchange for listening to you CO’s orders to shoot some Iraqi farmer

You can’t say “fuck the army but it’s good because it feeds poor Americans”

Where did I say it’s good in any way? It’s an option that some people take when they’re desperate. Yea f*** the people that join cause it’s a good financial deal and they don’t need to. But I can’t fault someone for not being the most principled person ever when they’re in a dire situation and a way out is being dangled in front of them and is easily accessible. The military preys specifically on these people and works to cut off access to the alternatives.

f*** the police and f*** the military

  • Scratchin Mamba

I don't blame the person as much for joining the military if they're poor ofc and do it for benefits

But it's still a morally questionable decision to put it lightly

When you gotta eat, you don't even think that far into morality

These days in America yeah but you’re looking at an option that will bring some kind of security to your life and a lot of people don’t have that so I understand why they would join.

Also if we didn’t have a strong military other countries that don’t give a damn would walk all over us.

Don't understand how people are like acab, f*** the police and sinewave did nothing wrong (they're right he didn't). But then make an exception for the military

Even among the more politically active working class americans US militarism is a big blindspot

  • Sep 20, 2022
    blonded

yeah, do your 4 years for free college and get out. you can meet some great people there and find a good community but ultimately you have to be fine with conforming and being forced to suck the government's/your supervisor's/chain of command's d***. plus there's always the valid moral concerns people have with joining the military etc

don't listen to anyone who will inevitably come in here and clown you or anyone else though. the military is a fantastic (benefits-wise) way out of s***ty situations for a lot of people. if anyone joins because they wanna kill people though they should kill themselves first

    How many bodies you got
