About to cook a couple beats real quick
Can some of y’all slide through and maybe follow please
i know what you mean but honestly I grew out of that phase as an artist.
Now it's just me absorbing everything that gives me inspiration and ideas, learning new things, just experimenting.
When I look at others people's drawings/paintings / photography I'm always in critique mode, seeing what qualities I like, dislike. what worked well, what didn't, composition elements, colors.
I a***yze and dissect, see things I haven't even thought about or stumbled upon that just help me improve upon what I do.

Get someone other than you that is critical to take a look at your work. That way you can gauge if your s*** is up to par. Even the greatest artists (in music at least) have people give them a reality check on their work.
I tend to start all over again than work on improving the current one when I'm just not "feeling" it and that process usually include tearing stuff down
Artists of all types are their own worst critics. Try to find friends or colleagues who can try to be objective when looking at what you’re making to give you an idea of where you might be lacking. But also it can be worth sticking with your gut feeling at least when it comes to visual arts. Can’t say for sure if you’re talking about music
I made music by myself for years until I actually found others that did and we fire and we grew together I’m talking like from 13-18/19
Since this is specific about producing. Many yutes that go into producing really just wade in water, they are put off from learning the in's and outs of compression, midi, velocity, song arrangement etc, how to create your own synth, mixing/ mastering etc.
Idk if that falls in line with you but try expanding and discovering different things, Idk what kinda artist in music you want to be, being a producer for other artists or making a LA beat scene tape, or whatever lane you're interested in.
you say you don't like how your beats sound when you listen to other peoples stuff. you have to pinpoint what exactly sounds off and just focus on that first issue before you move on.
I'm not sure whats specifically are your own creative ruts are but its nice to take a step back from your work and view it and critique like you're listening to it for the first time.
It's definitely hard and long winded for me to explain because for my visual work, I come up with countless unorthodox methods.
also outside feedback helps, i have my sketchbook with me always and if people want to go through it I let them and I ask them what are they raw thoughts. I know and understand when it comes to beats, especially beats, randoms really get rude or don't want to even take a while to sit and listen to it.
if you compare your s*** then you’re taking it too seriously. you’ll lose the meaning of what you do if it’s only to compare to what everyone else is doing and it will never be unique to you. chase to be than yourself not somebody else
I done had so many friends try to make beats cause they seen me or me and others doing it then quit or only wanna do it when I’m around lol you’ll never get good being like them niggas
