1. It's not very different than movies and whatnot.

2. The need for "constantly doing something productive" is capitalist prosperity gospel bullshit. Just do whatever makes you happy. Not every moment of your existence has to be used for "optimization".

It all comes down to moderation, watching Netflix, movies, reading fiction books ECT can all be wastes of time as well, as long as you don't let it consume too much of your time who cares. He speaks on his experience because he was addicted to quake lol.
He's right in that it's dangerous because they're fun and you can be tempted to waste more time but any form of entertainment can be a waste

Having goals is not bad. I am not saying to be lazy your entire life. Entertainment as a form of pleasure is nothing bad though, it only becomes bad if it consumes your entire life.

People will say stuff about video games but binge watch every show. There's no real difference in my view.

As long as you are doing productive things that benefit your life, then using your free time to play games is normal. What the difference if I spend my 5 free hours a days to play games instead of anything else? Its my source of fun.

But those that wake up, play games until night, then go to sleep, only leaving their rooms to eat and s*** have a real problem ngl.
