I’ve read overemployed.com and have done my research. Just interested in hearing any anecdotes on here.
My first job called and asked if I want a company computer, keyboard, and mouse to do their remote work. They also asked for my internet provider and asked if I’ll be able to plug a cable of theirs into my router. Should I be concerned if I’m doing all of the work from my second job on my personal computer?
My second job is a part time job with flexible hours btw, but in a perfect world I want to do deep focus work that allows me to fit both into an 8 hour block
UPDATE: the router thing never actually turned into anything, guess I'm in the clear for now
Cable of THIERS into the router hell nah

ik i hate this company but I need a foot in the door and expect to pivot after a few months.
I'm trying to figure out if the VPN concentrator they give me can only track stuff through their monitors or not
This subreddit is legit crazy. I think some of the stories are cap (there is one when dude said he was working 5 jobs and is making like 125k a month) but overall it's super interesting

Yeah ik see op…I’m not tryna kill myself but if I can balance one full time and one part time with flexible hours then I want to maximize
I been thinking about it but I feel like that s*** not healthy to be in front the computer so much
Was doing it from Jan/March LOL. I was doing Helpdesk level1 and data consultant/engineer.
F*** HELP DESK. I was able to do it only because of how chill my engineer role was.

How much were you surveilled and how did you work around it?
Were you using separate computers?

Ik if I end up pulling 12 hour days then f*** that but the goal is to fit everything into 8 hours (see OP)

I was in training for both. But after training, I started slacking with the help desk one and help desk was incoming calls and that s*** got annoying and my boss got annoyed by me
I was going to get fired legit within that week so I just quit.
Was just a way to make some quick short time money
Yup separate laptop LOL

Not to be a nag but u think I can get away with balancing the two given the info in OP? J1 is offering to send me monitors, a mouse, and keyboard so I’m hoping that as long as I keep everything from J2 delegated to my personal computer I should make out ok
Honestly J2 has me on a part time retainer for 2 months and they’re gunna pay me well if I land a full-time w em, so I’m praying for this to work out lmao

I think you should do it for the first 2 weeks and see how it goes.
That's how I did it
I thought work from home was cool but that s*** was killing me after first few months. Went to work at Apple.

help desk jobs are the worst remote jobs I've done lol
stupid mofos ringing your desk at random hours, the last couple months of that job I'd troll the people on the phone honestly

Even a year after moving on from remote help desk I cringe inside when a new potential customer is on the table for the help desk team and its like "500 calls per month, those are ezpz 5min calls"
Yeah every 5min for f***in 8hrs while trying to work on projects and s***
Thank god I escaped

I used to put people on hold and go to sleep and take naps or go to grab food.
It really is hell

yeah exactly
like here is work to focus on but let me also break your focus by randomly having people ask you questions, I worked for a router/firewall brand so sometimes people would call in and have no idea what was going and just be upset and it would take so long

there were definitely times I'd wake up to the phone ringing lol
I'd play Star Wars Battlefront when I'd get bored on the phone on night shifts people would legit take like 30 minutes to restart their routers and s*** I'd just be like hello? and they'd just be rambling
