I completely agree, but the fact that she’s quirky & hip does make her resonate more with the youth, which is ultimately good at this is what will get more people into politics and real issues who may not have paid attention before. it’s a give and take situation forsure. you definitely don’t want a politician who’s more focused on being a celebrity & pandering more than anything else. feel as if that is a majority of politicians tho

Amazon is still coming to NYC anyway with the new deal, just not in Long Island or with the 3 billion dollars in financial incentives they apparently "needed".

I mean, I feel like in terms of AOC you're being turned off by her use of social media to promote her image, which she does very effectively. It's not like she's some big air head who's not talking about real issues and policies.

The reality is that social media is becoming what TV once was (and radio before it). It's different, and there was always pushback and calls of showboating to politicians using new forms of media, but she's not showboating and she's not trying to become a celebrity. She's simply using the new tools at her disposal to promote her message imo.

(Disclaimer: while I think she's using social media very effectively, and I feel like social media is the new form of messaging/promotion/communication for politicians, I personally am deeply disgusted by the effects that social media has had on our society).
