Apple events are usually on Tuesdays, sometimes Wednesdays or Thursdays. Invites go out seven days prior. Gurman, who’s ~87% accurate, claims the MBPs will be announced within the next month.

I would expect them to avoid the 19th for both invites and the event due to the Pixel event media coverage. Apple’s fourth quarter earnings will be reported on on the 27th, so that’s another day to cross out. Anecdotally, the 30th anniversary of Apple’s first laptop announcement (PowerBook 100) will be on 10/21. My best guess right now would be invites on 10/14 for an event on 10/21 to honor that anniversary.

If they are going to go for a Tuesday (last six events have been on Tuesdays) then I would expect invites on 10/26 or 11/2 for invites on 11/2 or 11/9, respectively. Anything after that would be too close to the holidays.

okay that makes sense. yeah it's so hard to trust all the leaks and articles that are made based off leaks. as they usually stem from one person starting the rumor/leak with no credibility

Yeah, in this case it’s a culmination of rumors over a long time that pointed to fall of this year. I’m so god damn excited for these MBPs I’m really hoping we get event invites next week

so invites on 10/14? and if not then we prolly won't be getting an event til November?

the reason that I was convinced that the m1x's were coming out this year is because they had the m1x hashtag in their keynote a few months back lol

Oh hell no that is just my best guess based on a bunch of other factors at play this month. They could have the ball to hold an event on the 19th, same as Pixel, but idk. I’m just saying the 21st would work well. Realistically there could be a Mac event on the 19th, 20th, 21st, 26th, 28th of this month OR any Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday in the first two weeks of November. There are still a lot of open options on unfortunately, I’m just taking my best shot at logically narrowing them down.

All I can say with utmost certainty is that there will be a Mac focused event within the next 40 days.

I wish. It would be ballsy and possibly a bad move on Apple's part to go directly up against the Pixel event next Tuesday. That event would steal some viewers away and the MacBook would get drowned in the Google headlines.

I think this Thursday (for an event on the PowerBook's 30th anniversary) and next Tuesday are far more likely invite dates. That being said I would LOVE to be wrong.

As a pixel fan, no way apple is intimidated by a google event lol

It's not really about being intimidated, per se, it's more about not wanting to compete with any other big tech company's flurry of announcements. They're going to get more eyes on their products if Apple's announcements aren't flooded in a sea of

'Google Pixel 6: Here it is'
'Google Pixel 6 Pro: All the details'
'Android 12 to be available on Pixel models October 28th'
'Here's every configuration you can buy of Google Pixel 6'
'Google surprise announces new Pixel Watch'

    You know what I mean?

  • Oct 12, 2021

I want to say I was dead wrong when I said Apple would not hold an event on 4/20. I'd love to be wrong again. October 26th just feels more plausible to me for an event date
