  • Any of you ever watch that movie Gleaming the Cube? Tony Hawk plays a minor role but he and Rodney Mullen also both did all of Christian Slater鈥檚 skate stunts.

  • I don鈥檛 know why but I can鈥檛 help but think of him during that Pharrell interview where that naked girl randomly brought him some water during the interview

Rodney Mullen is brilliant for sure. I recommend anyone remotely interested in skating to watch the following video:

Mullen's influence cannot be denied and shaped skating to what it is today.

One of the corniest things in skate culture is how much hell you鈥檒l get for being 鈥渃asual鈥 for liking this man.

He鈥檚 a genuinely great guy and he put a lot of eyes on skating even if it was primarily through video game, it still raised interest. I never got to get good at skating the way I wanted to because at the time of me being a teenager it was kind of shunned within my setting. But he鈥檚 one of the main reasons I ever took an interest in the first place and why @ 30 I鈥檓 still trying to learn

One of the biggest pop and athletic icons from the late 90s to the mid and possibly even late 2000鈥檚. Without him we wouldn鈥檛 have rail grinding which started with Sonic games. EVERY kid had at least a mild skating phase back then.

I think his name might have been universally up there with Mickey Mouse and Sonic at one point.
