spike lee has done so much for Black film but his movies...they leave a lot to be desired

Nah, his movies are pretty good, some even more than that. Do The Right Thing is a masterpiece in my opinion, not only because of its importance, but also from a filmmaking perspective.

Spike is one of the best American directors in the last 30 yrs black or white..don't get this thread tbh his work is nothing to be ashamed of. He had some stinkers, but so do plenty of other great directors

Even something like Jungle Fever is better than a lot of the vanilla s*** getting hyped by film bros
