” when you’re simply seeing graphical improvements or just ‘faster, bigger’… obviously it’s nice, but it doesn’t have that same inventive quality that really surprised me with past consoles.”
”There’s not the extreme surprise or the unexpected quality that I felt from the leap to previous consoles. Now I see the announcements and I think, ‘oh, that’s cool’ and then the next minute I think, ‘hmmm… what should I watch on Netflix tonight?”
its just because for platinum games crazy loads speeds and huge worlds dont matter
its a big leap just not for him
Next-Gen still basically catching up to PC anyways
and pc is held back by ocnsole architecture
you cant simplify things like that

dont forget there used to be PC exclusive games
PC could end up that way after PS5 and XSX release if publishers are willing to take the hit and devs are willing to make games ONLY for PC hardware and software
a game that fully utilizes 16-20 teraflops and some innovative gameplay design could change the market completely
no devs/pubs are brave enough to risk making such a high cost product when the gaming market is already focused on razor-thin margins

Do games sell well on pc compared to consoles? I always assumed there wasn’t many exclusives on pc for this reason
EDIT: Also how many PC gamers really have 16-20 teraflops? I can see why devs don't make high cost exclusives for the PC from just reading this. Hella gamers just won't be able to play it and it just won't sell

well idk half life A kinda fit the bill
Its true. If companies cant make games for this gen how do you expect them to make games for the next one

Yeah, spot on. I don’t even know if i will buy the new consoles. Might just build a PC and update the graphic card every 5 years. Most exclusives are timed nowadays anyways.

Sony/Microsoft really don’t have enough exclusives to begin with. I was thinking the same thing of just building a PC. I’ve always had consoles in the past but I think it’s time for a change.

And the exclusives that they do have aren't that great at all. They just get obnoxiously wanked when it comes to whom has the better platform.
The end of a console's life cycle is closer to the gap between the next ones start.
So if you compare PS3 end games with the launch games of PS4, it's not so far of, as if you were to compare PS3 end games with PS4 end games for example.
Even then it's also about how companies take advantage of the system and it's limitations, something like Metal Gear Solid 4 on PS3 still holds pretty well to this day and you can say that about much earlier games as well.
hes dead wrong
i am completely blown away by God of War graphics
and even Death stranding cinematics blew me away
ps5 after 3-4 years of being out
smfh its gonna be crazy
Don't think we'll ever see another leap like PS2/Xbox to PS3/Xbox 360 and that'll make every generation from now seem like its not a big step from the current one

You can only advance so much
He’s both right and wrong.
He’s right in the sense that, as we go along, the jump will clearly be less significant because we’re almost at a point where the only way it can get insanely better is to become full blown photorealistic. We’re not gonna see a PS2 > PS3 level jump.
But he’s also wrong because, as stated already in the thread, next gen will look crazy in 3-4 years once everybody’s more familiar wit the hardware and software.
Platinum games don’t really push the envelope for performance or graphics so no surprise he’s saying this
