fade with the waves
i smirk at a nigga if he still rockin braids
that just let me know that we ain't on the same page
and that goes out to every nigga except trey
Had crotchet dreads since 2016, cut them shorter at the beginning of last year so they like shoulder length now. Dyed them blonde earlier this year. Probably going to cut them off in the next few days. Loved having dreads but I just feel like that phase of my life is over and I don't like what people assume about me because of the hairstyle
oh & shorties like low cut Niggas more
Girls love long hair but it can reach a point where it makes a guy look untidy. After every twist, my s*** would go from Brent Faiyaz to J Cole over the span of a month and I could feel the attention from girls dwindle as my hair got more messy

Dreads and a suit though >>>
Had to wear a suit the other day, tied my dreads up in a low ponytail and people told me I look like ASAP Rocky

F*** those people
It's your hair so obviously you can do what you want but it seems like you really f*** with your hair from what you said about wearing the suit and rocking em tied up so if you do end up cutting them I hope it's because it's something you truly want to do

Damn, whenever I have freeform dreads they're always super unruly/left to their own devices and EVERYONE shows me love for em
Also Cole's dreads are not messy at all, super uniform/clear that he cares for em well
Braids/fro atm
Been liking this a lot the last few years but my curl pattern so tight that it almost immediately starts to dread up whenever I start getting any length

I'm hoping to work as a lawyer and I haven't been going for interviews just because I'm so scared of what the reaction would be. I think employers would be hesitant to hire me even if they're comfortable with my hair, because they'll be so afraid of what their clients would think about me
Its extremely painful and expensive to do my hair and I have to go like every month to keep the dreads looking neat. I can't run as often as I want to because I need to build my schedule around when I'm washing my hair, doing my hair etc. Also, I don't want to risk my hairline
Would like to keep my hair and I know I'll be sad when its gone but overall, I think I'm ready for a change. And I know the more I wait, the harder it'll be to let go

I work at a law firm atm and I’ve got neck & hand tats, with locs. I’m not a lawyer but a lot of paralegals & other firms I engage with usually have people who are less business & more casual.
I feel like times are changing and the ‘traditional image’ is on its way out, though thats depending on where you live of course since some cities tend to progress faster than others.
As long as you show confidence and the will to do the work, I wouldn’t be too down on yourself about whether or not they’ll hire you. Also you’re black so any hairstyle you wear you’re going to be perceived different than white counterparts anyways.
Of course if you feel like chopping the top is the right choice for you personally at this point in your life, then do what feels right to you.

I'm in South Africa but I have also heard similar stories about how the profession is changing and becoming more accepting of things like dreads and tattoos. I just don't want anything to count against me while I'm still looking for a job and trying to get my foot in the door somewhere
Might just grow my hair out and do dreadlocks again when I'm like 40 and a solidified partner somewhere
