only time it makes sense to have lay-offs are when an entire independent company/studio made a product/service and it just didn't work and there's no bailout - it's not great but it makes sense and USUALLY most of the workforce is well aware that the entire ship is going under and have made preparations

Leadership at Bungie has been a f***ing disaster. Firing people in order to save themselves from being ousted. Jfc

They expanded like f***ing crazy in 2022/2023 for no reason. Now s*** is coming to roost and Bungie leadership is kicking anyone they can to the curb in order to maintain control of the company. Bungie leadership has been a complete mess for years. Only reason the company hasn't been run under is because they keep getting purchased by bigger publishers.

Bungie is managed like a s***show and selling to Sony was a con job, so none of this is surprising

Don't almost feel bad for corpos. They'll be alright and already have more than a couple successful live service titles with GT, MLB, Helldivers, and even Destiny.

Destiny 2 is probably performing "well." Just not well enough for leadership at Bungie to maintain 100% control after they hired like 400 people in one year.

But the expansion they just released is the last one I recall. The only thing left to maintain is just the seasonal model for the year.
