Just watched the film again for like the
15th time and love how I keep catching new details.

1 being the first time we hear Daniel converse he’s proudly talking about how he’s making $5000 a week.
Then in the end he tells Eli his brother Paul “has a nice little business making $5000 a week”

Nice way of showing the success Daniel has became and the fact he said $5000 was on purpose by PTA because it also rubs it in Eli’s face being he’s owed “$5000” for years now that Daniel refused to pay.

Also the movie starts with Daniel swinging an object and hitting something. And the movie ends with him swinging an object and hitting something (Eli)

The obvious Cain and Able = Paul and Eli

But I like how the names have the same amount of syllables too

Sure ya'll probably read the last words "I'm finished" is akin to Gods last words "It is finished"

No idea if PTA designed this on purpose but when Paul and Daniel meet the only time H.W asks a question and shows interest is “how many sisters do you have?”

Then later the little nigga wife’s her up lol

To me that was cool foreshadowing

The oil well erupts in flames, people are sprinting around in panic, but Daniel looks on with oil covering his face in awe and euphoria. His son has been deafened, men have died but the sight of the vast amounts of oil blasting out of the well is the closest to a religious experience he’s had.

This is also after he specifically refuses to bless the oil well

I’d actually say he didn’t refuse to bless the well, he refused to have Eli do it and blessed it himself.

To me this plays on the whole idea of Eli and Daniel trying to be god themselves.

Even the title delivers on its promise by the end of the movie with there literally being blood coming from Eli’s head

Yup PTA is definitely inspired by Stanley.

Even the first 15 minutes with no dialogue can be seen as a reference to 2001

Its definitely on the slower end and more so a character study, but there's so many details and themes weaved in that makes it great. The movie really ain't even about oil.

Another obvious one : Daniel and his “brother”. There’s a clear parallel with Eli and Paul. There’s also an irony: Daniel abandons HW, his adopted son, for his “real” brother.

Did the same thing, but later finished it and still didn't like it.

I appreciate how it was made though

Yessir. Daniel and Eli are the same person just presented in different ways.
