I had this kinda stupid conversation with friends a couple of days ago. I said you can only be violent if you are violent against people/animals, but not objects. If you break s***, you are not a violent person. They said i was wrong. What do you guys think?

  • Aug 24, 2020

You could. Because that’s not a good way of coping with anger

  • Aug 24, 2020

    Yeah breaking s*** is violent

    what would you call it?

    rowdy?

  • Aug 24, 2020

What if you're violent against objects that are important to the lives of people/animals?

  • Aug 24, 2020

As someone who has broken things before I can say that there is a difference between an inanimate object and a living being but neither are acceptable behaviors

Ur maybe technically right, but ngl it’s hard to imagine there are people out there who have rage so uncontrollable they smash s*** up, but would never lay a figure on a person.

Also depends the nature of the object destruction - breaking a plate in anger might not indicate a violent personality, but what about someone who gets pissed at their partner then smashes up that person’s home/car?

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve felt dumb for destroying my own possessions over anger. There are better ways to cope is all I’m saying. Doesn’t necessarily mean someone is violent in nature

I've never broken something important or expensive in a fit of rage though

I only break cheap meaningless crap

Mine mainly comes from video games which has resulted in controllers, mics, etc but that was primarily when I was younger. Reflecting on it I just feel dumb because there are a million other ways you could blow off steam

I tend to break objects but mostly stuff that can be easily replaced. The other day I broke a stapler at work.
