I’m gonna write this post to the best of my ability, if you intend to read, you might be triggered by the following.

I know that cancel culture isn’t the way to necessarily handle situations but in the social climate we live in, its what people know best.
about a year ago one of my homies got called out for being a r*pist in the local arts community, I was in complete shock and it hurt my heart to see such a thing happen. after talking to him about these allegations he did confess that he did indeed f*** up bad, although it wasn’t along the lines of sexual assault, but - sexual misconduct.
after hearing what he had to say I had to reach out to the victims (these handful of people agreed to talk about it) in the meantime I told him I couldn’t be associated with him. as time went on it was evident that the homie crossed some boundaries during what you would call “intimate” moments, the two parties actually sorted out these situations before everything blew up on the socials. a lot of people started to harass me and my friend group over what had happened despite us asking for privacy as we tried to handle this situation to the best of our ability. most of it fell onto me since I was the one who brought him around years ago, all of this was very new to me in terms of handling something like this. I figured the best way was to help a friend work through these issues and found it best that I would be distant from him for awhile.

to this day there’s a part of the community that still tries to f*** this guys life up, some of which who send him death threats from time to time (not that it matters but it’s a group of white women trying to come at a black man trying to do well for himself). seeing this sometimes troubles me because I constantly question if I handled this the right way, or even if I should continue to be his friend even though his actions made it difficult to do so.

what would you do in a situation like this?

to my understanding yes, the group of people took these peoples personal experiences and ran with it to cancel somebody.

I’ll put it this way, you’re in the sheets with a woman and you started to choke her but it was something she wasn’t into.

I’m going crazy because I held this person accountable and these people still want him to face the consequences and when I ask what they want, they don’t provide an answer.

Unless he had her in a vice grip and wouldn't let go after she was thrashing around trying to break free which we can assume didnt happen since they were able to come to an understanding afterwards

How does this lead to death threats??

There is a difference between rape and sexual misconduct, between physical abuse and emotional abuse, between abuse vs just being a s***ty person. but not on twitter or college campuses. If you're going to try to have s***with a women in this era you need to understand that any sort of slight mistake you make will get funneled into one of those categories. One night stands are not worth it anymore these b****es will call you a rapist for ghosting them

just because someone has done something f***ed up doesn't mean they deserve to have they life ruined or constantly live in the shadow of what they did

they clearly aren’t doing it because they care about addressing sexual misconduct, that’s just the excuse they hide behind

they want to hold power over yall
