they knew they had one when this dropped
i like heartless too but me personally i felt like Polo G was gonna be a star once i heard Finer Things. such a unique take on Chicago and framing it into a version of the streer blues. might have been done before but it just really spoke to me.
everybody agreed it's good even people who didn't like his style at first
21 Savage is talentless

this was the best possible way for the Weeknd to enter the Starboy era and truly embrace his new found fame and status out of the shadows. really gave the vibe that he wanted to do big things in the world of pop and the tour and album success proved it.
The true song that elevated The Weeknd was this. Literally elevated this man to levels he didn’t reach before. And I Can’t Feel My Face after this,
Exaggeration
Highest profile with the least talent. Weak flow, weak delivery, weak lyrics. He's coasting on a threatening aura while sounding like he's on thorazine. The occasional meme bar sustains him
Maybe Young Wild & Free is a better pick but f*** it

Hmmm true

He was also in a cult growing up and apparently was trafficking d**** without a visa his entire life. So I wouldn't trust that guy at all. Very weird
Already made a thread about the song being ass. But there's no denying what it did for Kendrick.

Changed Uzi's career forever. But now he can't top this song
I’ve held this long time conspiracy that SoundCloud hard promo’d the song on release through recommended and that inflated the numbers a huge deal for it. I think it’s a great song but not the best song he even released that day. I get why it was as popular as it was and absolutely is the cornerstone of his career but I think it’s done more damage in the long run because he is looking for that next XO and every song he tries it with feels like a sad pandering effort (P2 especially). Was the lightning in a bottle moment when Bad and Boujee was popping, he had built a sizable fanbase off his 2015-16 work, and his fans and young people alike were looking for the next young star out of that scene.
posting soundcloud link for maximum nostalgia
I always found it weird that this is the one that broke him seeing how his other smashes are so much more tame in comparison
Maybe Young Wild & Free is a better pick but f*** it
This is THE one tho, you could t avoid this song, especially with the Steelers going to the Super Bowl shortly after the release and he was coming off one of his best project runs by far
oh man, how can we forget the career defining single
probably gonna be his only single too unfortunately
Man released a whole classic mixtape off this as well though. Definitely the story tied with the single made it bigger than either would have ever been separately but was a true unique and real rap moment where the music and lifestyle were a pure 1 for 1 of eachother
Talk about career elevating this broke both Thug and RHQ. Thug had some other smaller hits prior but you couldn’t avoid this song 2014 whether for the memes or just how much people just rocked with it and the chemistry between the two in general
