Great trip I just got back from
Great diversity of food and high end options that arent so expensive like NYC
Amazing building architecture, so much more distinctive than NYC
Way less hipsters and trendy yuppie’s kids
Beautiful clean streets
L above ground system is A1 although it doesn’t run as expansive as MTA
Beautiful waterfronts, parks, and walkable bridges that more accessible than NYC
WAYYYY less of a homeless problem
Huuuuuge diversity of vibes that aren’t as so far spread out as NYCs different hoods
The wide streets and alleyways make the downtown areas feel way less crowded
Amazing city, I love NYC but man Chi is just as good as a city IMO
I’m from Chicago but have to move to NYC for work soon idk how to feel now
I’m from Chicago and live in NYC now
you’ll be fine
I’m from Chicago but have to move to NYC for work soon idk how to feel now
You’ll enjoy NYC because it’ll have options and luxuries Chicago won’t have
You’ll just have to pay more to enjoy them
The everyday side of you will appreciate Chicago, but for special experiences NYC offers a lot
I’m from Chicago but have to move to NYC for work soon idk how to feel now

Chicago is much bigger than NYC with way more brutal winters. If you can handle that then NYC is fine.
NYC just filled with rats and humans who look like rats
Every major city on the east coast gotta f*** ton of rats.
tribal posturing intensifies
many cities are cool, let's be happy we all have so many good things to say about where we live. we are not crabs in buckets

Tbh I’m just worried about making friends and s***

Curious as to why you say it’s bigger than NYC? Are you just counting Manhattan?
Cause NYC as a whole is a lot bigger

Concert venues starting to open back up in the city, very easy to make friends there. S***, whenever I go to a concert in NY I see the same 8 or 9 people I normally do lol s*** first show I went to when concerts opened up was for Isaiah Rashad and when I saw my usual peeps we caught up like no time has passed.
Also if you're gonna be working in the city it's even easier to make work friends, which can lead you to meeting outside of work friends. Despite all the "New Yorkers are mean" jokes it's hard as f*** to not make friends in NY. All you have to do is not be an a******.

NYC is built on multiculturalism which makes the city a lot different from home which is very much still segregated
So your friend circle could very much be different in a good way

I don't count Staten Island in NYC. Moreorless just expanded suburbs of New Jersey. Also maybe it's because I am from NY and have been all over it many times that I just don't consider it all that big anymore.
Also I've been told by people from Chicago that "Google Maps isn't a good representation of how big Chicago is". But my assumption is they are counting parts of Gary and up to Chicago Heights as a part of the city of Chicago.
That aside Chicago just looks like a much bigger city to me.
