I don’t really know how else to title this so whatever. So I know this place isn’t really the beacon of civil and intelligent discussion, but I’m starting so see more and more people say it’s offensive to make comments such as “pause”, “sus”, “no homo”, and things of that nature. I’ll fully admit that I still stay stuff like this all the time just out of humor, but is it really getting to a point where this is an issue or people find it offensive?

It’s not really me worrying about what other people say I guess it’s more or less coming off as insensitive to a certain group

we did have a discussion about this the other day but I’ll let this one stay up as long as it stays somewhat productive

That’s where it derived from if we’re talking about the same thing I just wanted to expand on it. Thanks chief

Twitter and other forms of social media are making echo chambers more prevalent and creating an easily offended generation. Idk what else to say, like there's really no other excuse for finding s*** like 'sus' offensive.

I'm offended by sus because of what its being turned into by people who dont know what it originally meant, just like high school girls and "slang explainer" type videos did with "fuck boi" last decade.

They took a word that meant something else and just started using it in the most literal way possible, then telling people younger than them that's what it means.

Can't wait for the year 2045 when twenty-something's rediscover early 2010s trap music and write think pieces about how progressive it was because of how often they call other guys "fuck boi"

Don’t allow anybody to dictate what you can’t do or say.

Ik its funny to spam on here but people who constantly say "no homo" in real life are super weird, insecure ass mfs

nah it’s just slang. i wouldn’t say it around my gay friends out of respect but saying pause or no h****is just like ingrained in a lot of us i think from childhood

Those phrases generally carry a “I’m not w the gay s***” baggage (imo- sus depends on context) and I think being aware of that is a fair thing for people to speak on. Continuing to use the phrases after being made aware is your own discretion as not everyone will think it’s a big deal (though I imagine more people will as time goes on)

Personally don’t have a problem with people saying it but the intent of saying “pause / no homo” is usually to demean homosexuality.
It’s anti progressive but as a species we’re regressing in almost every way so it doesn’t really matter at this point
