Nah sometimes the outrage be necessary. That’s like me as a black man going to China or something and taking their culture and just using it to make profit. In those cases I get it. But just regular s*** like Halloween costumes n s***, people are f***ing tripping imo.

This you can definitely tell when someone is doing it to exploit the culture rather than to appreciate it

It’s when important cultural are reduced to simple aesthetics for the sake of profit

Like when “Native American” rugs are sold, they’re blatant ripoffs of designs that have centuries of history in Native American culture that are unique to every family and tribe.

    Halloween costumes are trash too

like people dressing up as chiefs or Mexicans for example

why are those costumes? do they fall in the funny category or scary category, and why? they’re not made up characters, animals, or items. they’re making caricatures out of whole groups of people as a gag. it’s no different from white people dressing up in blackface with fried chicken and watermelon for a Halloween costume, if you need something to compare it to.

I appreciate you for this response. I don’t take Halloween seriously so I never thought about it like this. This year ima for sure pay attention when I see costumes like that. I always took it as people just playing dress up, ya know? But when you put it like that, it totally make sense. You learn something new or see a different viewpoint everyday.

But that’s capitalism. I mean we are either for capitalism or we aren’t. I’m okay either way but we can’t play both sides.

I’ll admit I didnt realize what it felt like till Beyonce put out Homecoming, youll have an aneurism reading how it’s written on the album art if you speak Greek. But that’s just a minor annoyance more than something that actually feels offending. I dislike the frat s*** more

Then that’s fair to be against appropriation for you tbh. Capitalist kind of can’t be, goes against the foundation of capitalism. Capitalism has no heart only pockets.

Yep but their argument is if we lead by virtue and protecting the classes then we will lack innovation. Capitalism is the driving force behind advancement in many categories especially technology.

However, too much capitalism and innovation can potentially drive us to nuclear war with every country competing against each other on stockpiles and advancing their weaponry.

We need a balanced model of socialistic Capitalism,

Cultural appropriation used to mean using the culture of another group to defame and make a mockery of it. Like minstrel shows did.

Now it just a way for Twitter rejects to have something to be mad about when they see a white girl with braids Or on the flip, rightist losers whining when they see a black person wearing a viking hat as a joke or something.

what part of socialism would your ideal model exclude? the elimination of the market?

Nah the white girl with braids take is legit. Black women have historically been denied jobs and made a mockery out of for wearing braids and when white women do it, it doesn’t effect them.
