such an uneasy watch. really get the feeling that while he was dying he willed himself into holding on until he could leave behind a swan song, and only then be at peace with letting go

My fave David Bowie (haven't checked out his whole discog yet though ) song has gotta be Life On Mars and also this cover of it

just the wonderful imagery dealing with escapism, feeling alone, disconnects, how mundane everyday life could be, indifference, longing to another place and the many different meanings the "Cut-up lyrics" take on

He really was something else with his peculiar songwriting method of cutting up sentences, phrases, quotes etc and rearranging them into the most beautiful kalleidoscopes of ideas

haha appreciate that fam umatched pen for sure, because you got to have the most refined sense for songwriting to take random words/sentences and make them into these immersive and intricate narratives of art like he did legend (forgot to @ you )

one of the most immaculately produced albums in recent memory. a touching final note from an artist that left us too soon.

Bro probably didn't see what we see.
He was so in his own world it's crazy.
Performed without breaking a sweat, and yeah im p sure he mostly did all of his music with a few close collaborators.
But yeah Bowie is something special his music doesn't sound dated at all

I still think that even if he had 80 years he would've dropped a classic man.
He dropped a classic on his 69th birthday and passed away two days later
Hes so underappreciated on this site its crazy

love worldbuilding amongst artists so much. big facts, especially that last part you wrote. not only doesn't it sound dated but it has also aged incredibly (i guess these two things overlap )

It's crazy to me that he wasn't a grumpy oldhead either.
    He was always discovering music.
He even cited that Kendrick was a big inspiration for Blackstar.
Thats how you know an artist is legendary,he was closely following music in his late 60s man
    Bowie was truly special

You're so right about this video too. It's chilling - both highly symbolic and brilliant as a theatrical mood piece. It's hard to watch in retrospect, but only someone as brilliant as Bowie could face up to the specter of death like this.

"Look up here, man, I'm in danger
I've got nothing left to lose
I'm so high, it makes my brain whirl"

    And the lyrics man.
He was on the strongest meds he couldn't think straight.
    He knew what was coming
