No how the show handles the response to caste system is white liberal trash. Or how Steven responds to the diamonds is trash.
Basically, Steven is a trash character past season 1 and the show picks and chooses who is evil and not for the wrong reasons.
Space nazis get away with murder at the end of the day
The show is a family drama my dude you reaching hella hard
Like what’s the shows response to the caste system? Letting gems do what they want? A simple “be yourself” lesson got you this mad

No it's not a simple family drama lol.
They have a murder trial over rose quartz.
The show tries to take itself super seriously at times and then tries to fall back as "it's a simple cartoon" for criticism.
I've watched the show when airing, and dropped it near white diamond arc since I got bored with it. Either ways I'm critcising the plot mostly since I can't decide what's a "right or wrong" way to teach about morals.

I mean it does take itself seriously a lot that much is true but I don’t think the murder trial of rose quartz is really what the heart of the show is about. You never saw the conclusion but it ends up being less about villainy and conquest and all of that and more about family, the diamonds representing stevens family on his moms side that couldn’t accept her, she left and they’re broken as a result
I think the mix of both is why viewing it as a political agenda show kind of falls flat
Big fire. Honestly its rated highly but i feel oike its still doesnt get respect like that. Its no adventure time but its only 1 tier below imo
I hated the way Steven never learned his lesson. Bro stay doing the same s***, and the few times he tries to boss up he fails.
One of my only major gripes with the show is Stevens terrible character arc
Justice for spinnel her retribution for a couple thousand yers of subjugation at the hands of a negligent tyrant is to be lobotomized and institutionalized all over again. Terrible show cartoon network ought to be ashamd
This show’s colour palette makes me feel so warm. I’ll always have a soft spot for this show.
I was going through it after breaking up with my ex and this song had me bawling my eyes out smh
No. Never interested me. I could think of 5 better shows from that era.
5 better shows than a show you never watched?
It looks cringe and the art style is generic as hell so no
Never finished the show cause the airing schedule got too inconsistent for me to keep up with the story but shout out Lars "Do you ever feel alone, even when you're around people"
Rewatched the whole series this year.
End of season 2 / beginning of season 3 drags a lot but the whole ending (and Steven Universe Future) was very satisfying.
One of the best cartoons ever tbh.
I watched it thoroughly once was pretty cool but a bit slow sometimes
This my sister has a collection of tattoos from the show

Out of curiosity how would you rank it vs Bojack

It's hard to do, they're completely different show
Bojack s1 and s2 (when the show first came out), along with Oyasumi Punpun were arts that I hugely connected with in my "depressed late teens" era
Finished the rest of the series 3 years ago, and while I enjoyed it, the story didn't leave me so much an impact compared to the earlier seasons (probably cause I'm long gone out of that phase)
Bojack is a better show to binge watch, but I'd put Steven Universe above because of how ambitious and original it feels for a children's show. and even if sometimes the writing isn't the best, has some really beautiful moments (and songs) all throughout the show
