I feel like prior to the release of CMIYGL, celebrity DJ's on tracks were largely seen as played out. DJ Khaled was (and continues to be) mercilessly mocked for his intros, the trapaholics tags were basically memes, and the concept of having a "hosted" tape was largely abandoned.
Now we have at least three major projects with DJ's back on tracks like Don Cannon in the mixtape heyday
We have CMIYGL, we have the dreamville d-day mixtape, and now Logic's Vinyl Days has Funk Flex on it at various spots.
Short-lvied gimmick? Continuing trend? What do y'all think?
Hell no. Bro dropped a gentrified gangsta grillz project.
DJs never stopped being cool
using logic might not be the best example
Why? Album sounds like late 2000s era Funkmaster Flex night on the weekends. For better and for worse.
is op 10?
JID had dj drama all over his 2018 album
WHAT HAPPENS ON EARTH, STAYS ON EARTH
it never went away. this thread can tho. there's still time
i want to rip my eyes out of my head
It never went away n theyre "memes" because the s*** is funny n part of the appeal lol
