I think there are people who hear an unfinished leak and then they imagine what they consider the best possible version of said song, that’s why they go hard about it.
Also hearing something you weren’t meant to adds some value to it

also why when the full song eventually drops they end up not liking it

It’s this. Your brain is filling in the gaps
snippet leaks which is most of the time not cdq and if it is has way too many tags. they hear the snippet play thru their phone speaker which boosts the bass cos of the poor quality and makes it sound harder. the song leaks unmixed so when it is finally released fully mixed and mastered it doesn’t hit as hard cos the mix doesn’t rattle your brain
nah some of these niggas best songs be s*** they don't drop.
Wayne a good example

The feeling of exclusivity definitely plays a big part of it
Yes. The fun of hearing a snippet is the adrenaline of what comes next and being able to fill in what you want for the rest of the song. It’s a distinct advantage full songs don’t have
Depends
Yandhi would have been astronomically better than anything the Nazi dropped in its stead
I think the fans that are apart of this new leak culture def be pressing the gas
Leaks always been a thing but these new niggas treat em like collectibles. They treat em like these rare commodities that most people don’t have access to. I think a lot of these people are kids or newer rap fans that missed the mixtape/file sharing era. The idea that artists have these unreleased songs floating around is like a phenomenon to them
Not gonna lie for like the past 7 years i never heard a leak album or track from my favorite artist never had time to go fishing for that s*** unless i heard a snippet on YT or IG which usually get deleted i never cared
There's good leaks and bad leaks. Some leaks are just better than official releases. Artists like Thug, keef, yeat, carti, juice wrld, uno ect have some serious unreleased gems

Interesting perspective.
Would you say that there could be an advantage to leaving some songs in that unmixed and unmastered state, to preserve the rattle, or do you think all songs should be cleaned up

What’s funny is that I hear a leak and already think THATS the best version of the song. And I believe fans get to thinking that too, and become disappointed if it ever gets released officially sounding any different
yeah some leaks you can tell are unreleased for a reason. what's funny is when kids go put up like $10000 for an unreleased song to leak and when it does it's mid and forgotten about within a week
At times yes, but sometimes...a lot of times, unreleased tracks are very good. Some of the best tracks I've heard from Isaiah Rashad, ASAP Rocky, Robb Banks, Earl Sweatshirt, and Danny Brown to name a handful of artists have been unreleased tracks.
The younger fans def
For all these random lil rappers and SoundCloud ones
Like the money that was put up for JuiceWrld groupbuys should land y'all in jail for stupidity
sometimes - there are some leaks that are/would be grails
imagine 5 child rebel soldier tracks leak that'd be life changing
Nope
Some artists peaked on leaks ngl like Lil Gotit
