Buy windows 10, install disk or usb drive, reformat. If that doesn’t work then....

Buy windows 10, swap out the drive, boot it up to the new operating system.

does this bypass any admin password prompt?

Some laptops have hard drives or solid state drives that you can swap out. But that’s a last ditch effort.

I would try to see if you can just insert a windows 10 cd or windows 10 usb stick and format it first. If that doesn’t work, try to swap out the current drive with a new one and you will be able to re install windows

Not sure, you can try. You’re gonna boot the laptop into safe mode or recovery mode, it shouldn’t have a prompt. If it does have an admin prompt thats when you will install a new drive.

depends if they locked the BIOS with a password

you should be able to make a windows install USB on a different pc and then there will be a button it will say you can press on start up to bring up the BIOS or a boot menu then just pick the USB

you can Google the laptop if nothing shows up on the screen when you turn it on

if its not locked from the BIOS you can reset it without a password

If it’s a work computer, it’s useless, these computers are bought in bulk by the IT department who put a firewall which prevents you from logging in once you reset it. you’ll need an admin password to bypass that.

@op at laptop is it, I might be interested?

Download Windows media creation tool, it should have an option to create a clean install, granted it will need to download Windows all over again.

Don’t they require you to send the equipment back? Jobs I’ve worked at have required me to do this or they start pressing charges

  • Jun 10, 2021

you’ll also need to permanently disable the tracker (can’t remember the name atm) in bios

you can only disable it if they haven’t enabled it tho
