In this capitalist society we're supposed to be driven by consumerism. Does materialism make you happy? Or did it stop at a certain age for you

  • May 13, 2022

    It does for me.

  • May 13, 2022

    Yes

    But I also don’t buy s*** recklessly so…

It depends, clothes make me feel good whenever I put them on and sharing a meal with friends is some of the best money I’ve ever spent but stuff like tech makes me feel hollow

    Absolutely no

Getting things can be good but the buying part hell nah

I know that makes me sound like one of those people

But when you got bills and s***, spending on s*** to try make u happy can be a real war imo

Spending on experiences and while u in the moment feel a lot better than material things tho

quality >>>> quantity. I am at a point where watching people practice rampant consumerism makes me uncomfortable.

And in general, I prefer to spend my money on experiences rather than material goods

Same for me. I’m getting older and I’m starting to realize it’s all the same as far as tech goes, technology progress is pretty slow. I gotta say for the most part buying things doesn’t really do it for me like it used too.

I love clothes too, they are an amazing way to express our individuality. But I do have a problem with the fast fashion industry and the way people are conditioned to constantly follow trends, instead of investing in quality and timeless pieces.

It's always short term happiness. Long term happiness doesn't come from things, it comes from inside yourself and your outlook in life.

consumer culture works on the basis that your life ain't s***, but buy this and y'all be happy.

with that being said the feeling of happiness is fleeting when i cop something that takes my fancy.
