Play XI & VIII. Then I’d say play V & IX.

Then revisit the others.

If you’re looking for a lengthy, traditional JRPG and can trust that the franchise wont really make any mistakes with it. Dragon Quest is a safe bet.

They’re talking about changing up mechanics for XII though.

Outside of 1-3. None of them are directly tied like that. They do make references to DQ lore but they’re standalone tbh. Like in XI they make references to 3 but you don’t have to have played any previous DQ to play DQ XI

turned on my 3ds to install smt iv, and noticed i still had dq viii on there. might have to run it back
