was just replaying some select missions, and thinking about how much of a missed opportunity final fantasy xv was. the combat system could've been revolutionary with a little more tlc. and the story has some cool concepts. Idk its the game that got me into ff so i've got a ton of love for it, but still its not as good as like XII or X.

i think i read in a previous ff thread that theres like a 100 games if you include the spinoff, so i get it

ffxv combat could've been better than viiremake if it had a little more time. vii edges it because it had an kingdom hearts franchise to refine it, but the shift control mechanics imo could've easily been as compelling

i liked it, the combat was fun and the characters were likeable.

XV is overhated while other ff games are a bit overrated

7 mainly, i know it’s a product of it’s time but even then i feel like it was just a right time right place thing that made 7 so iconic. FFXIV is also overrated but that might just be my experience with it, i know a lot of people love it but i couldn’t get into it and i tried very hard to get into it.

noctis' character design is A1 , i can actually totally understand nomura being so hurt about xv getting taken away from him.

vii is so entrenched in it's context sometimes it feels weird even asking questions like is it good or not. reading negative reviews of it from the time it came out is pretty funny just because of how prescient they are about all the critiques we've given it today. I don't really know anything about xiv just cause MMO's are absolutely not my thing

said earlier, but its way overhated. it actually is pretty dope. Especially if you've every had like a really long road trip with your friends. there are some scenes where you're just chilling with your party that absolutely gut me.

It’s not better than VI, VII, IX, X, XII. Would put it somewhere around IV, VIII, XI, XIII, but above I, II, III.

Words like ‘Overhated’ & ‘Overrated’ are really just overstated. It’s honestly probably just appropriately rated. It’s not better than some, just as good as several and better than others.

You guys realize XVI will be a dud in someone’s opinion & somebody will love it.

Ultimately all the issues with XV were brought on by the people over at Square & how they released the s***.

I have high hopes for 16 cause square headhunted one of the lead designers on devil may cry 5 (top 10 game imo) fwiw i think it brings a lot to the series, but to your point about square kind of ruining it. Yeah i agree thats why i made this thread. its crazy how too much status can kind of ruin a series tbh

believe sora will always be the main protag, though it is a new saga. hope he gets his own game because there's a lot of lore surrounding him (basically all of versus 13 stuff ), so we'll see. need it to be april for the kh 20th anni event

Tried to get through it twice I couldnt do it I got to the endgame zone where it finally opens up and just fell asleep
