I’m watching this video right now and this s*** is wild lmfao. Nigga got surrounded for no reason hahahaha Me and my homies had a similar experience in Colombia (side note: If you’re a black man, I highly suggest you make your way down ASAP!!! Thank Me Later!!!) but no where near this intense. My question is why though? I’ve heard and seen some of the stories of people going to places like China and people walking up and wanting to touch their hair and take pictures with them. In Colombia, we clearly stood out but I was really surprised by how people seemed to just gravitate towards us outside of the niggas who were just trying to sale us on a hotel or something but people who were genuinely interested in who we were and even going so far as offering food and just being genuinely kind for no reason. Have we been brainwashed by the American propaganda machine to think that we aren’t seen as beloved magical beings all over the world or did they just think Bruh was a rapper? Lol
For most of the people there, this is the first and last time they will ever interact with a foreigner or black person

Wild! Imagine how much different the world would be if we were all able to live and learn amongst each other freely and experience each other’s cultures!
watched this the other day
its because of the camera they thought he was someone famous (which he technically is)

The thumbnail had me worried
Deadass the reason I pressed play in the first place lmfao hahaha I thought he got jumped
man when i lived in China i lived in a pretty small city and the locals was fawning all over me and asking for pictures and s*** it's wild how foreigners are seen and treated in some parts of the world
Lol thing with videos like this especially in places that rarely ever see black people is they assume it's a celebrity when they got a camera out
I'd take note to his experiences there when the cameras off more than with it on
There are millions of black people in Colombia.
Yes, which is partly why I was surprised but even amongst them we stuck out and it’s not like there’s a sea of them just walking around, not in Santa Marta at least. It’s different. We are not from the exact same culture or place. So even though we are both technically “black,”We clearly weren’t from around there lmao we didn’t dress, talk, or walk like anyone out there so it was easy to see.
Most of the world have barely any races living among them outside of their own
Especially outside the western world
When you the only black kid in school and the white kids wanna touch your hair and ask why the palm of your hand isn’t as black as the rest of your hand
Love the hospitality of some cultures abroad. It’s a beautiful thing to be welcomed with such hospitality and curiosity, whether it’s because your kind is rare to them or because they think you’re somebody famous. Just soak it all in and enjoy the adoration while you can.

One day bro

That’s a good point

I think it's largely because foreign people from outside the U.S see African-American black people and think they are like the movies and other things they have seen, this can be both positive and negative perceptions.
It's the inverse of how Americans tend to see other cultures while having not physically interacted with them
People have tended to mediate their perception of reality through consumed media and we get ideas.
Again, this can be both positive and negative depending on what is primarily consumed.
