Lil Wayne comes to mind. It seems like he went from being the embodiment of “real hip hop's” decline in the eyes of old heads to being basically Nas for Zoomers
Drake.
this is so true lol. feel like he was fighting for respect the most when he was dropping his best music.

that's what drove him to make that music tho. he doesn't feel like the world is against him anymore and it's reflected in his music

FHD is a whole tier under MBDTF and TPAB.
There’s no coincidence that Wayne, Drake, and Nicki could all fit this description. Young Money were largely seen as outsiders, especially as a deep south sub-label. We’re seeing YoungBoy experience the same thing.

No the f*** it’s not lol
I was going to disagree with @op BUT old heads hated him and back then they ran a big part of the culture. My brother was my age now (27) when Wayne was on his mixtape run and clowned me for liking him lmao
Theres no way y'all saying WAYNE wasnt respected during his run
yea I mean wayne definitely got his respect with Tha Carter 3 and onward. Maybe before that you could say he was underrated, but definitely not once that album came out

pollari in particular i think just fell short of his potential
