One plan that management has laid out for the next game, a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, is to start out with a moderately sized release (which, by Rockstar’s standards, would still be a large game) that is then expanded with regular updates over time, which may help mitigate stress and crunch.

Imagine it dropping out of nowhere now
Honestly would be the coolest s*** ever if one of the biggest properties of all time surprise dropped
GTA isn’t dropping until the new consoles have dropped
well obviously, but rockstar usually announces games 2 years out from the release

it's not that obvious when people really think they might shock drop at some point this year, not to mention rdr dropped not too long ago so idk why people expected gta ANY time soon, doubt it even drops in 2 years

It's not that wild to expect GTA 6 in 2021. I get that RDR is their second biggest property but Rockstar released a main title game every year in-between GTA 4 and 5. Max Payne 2/Red Dead Redemption/LA Noire/Max Payne 3. Of course as games and technology advances, the development cycle takes longer but it's been 7 years and even though the source is reliable, it's inconceivable to me to think they're only just in the early stages of development. Especially when other not as reputable but still reliable sources have said otherwise. Plus it's not like they'd purposely hold off on it because RDR online is poppin or something, nobody plays that s***.

that's being very hopeful to expect it in 2021, especially with this pandemic preventing people from working

correct me if im wrong and im usually wrong but im sure working from home is easier now thanks to cloud sharing, provided your home computer is up to the task. but development can continue albeit at a slower rate.

easier than it probably was for gta 5? sure
development definitely hasnt stalled, but it can't be as fast as it would be. they've gotta get people in studios, movement capturing, etc. not to mention, who knows if they've had to lay people off because of this?
this s*** definitely isn't coming out in 2021, i'd be f***ing shocked.
late 2022 at the earliest seems more realistic

you're right, i think 2022 seems right. gtav online is still making a LOT of money lol.
Realistically I don’t see this dropping for another 3-5 years
GTA Online is basically printing money at this point and I’m sure the corona is gonna slow down development
I’d say 4 years the earliest

2022. Lock it in boy
2023-2024
And if y'all read, the full game will be updated throughout it's lifecycle to add more parts of the map and s***

Exactly around the time the PS5 Pro etc. is out or has been out for like 1-2 years. So 2024-2025... But I can see it getting announced in 2022 or 2023 tbh.
It's as simple as this
If you don't need to - you don't have to.
