This is hilarious because you assumed I’m an atheist lmfao. I personally practice meditation and think it’s a much better source for the word of God than some book that was given to us. The mind is infinite

meditation doesn't mean you're not an atheist

i will never get over how authoritatively and arrogantly people speak about religion in today's world, with literally no background knowledge or engagement with it beyond the surface

Then please educate me on what I said wrong? I don’t think religion is a bad thing, I just think it’s ironic these conspiracy theorists gravitate to it so much considering they try so hard to rebel the mainstream thought process

there is a clear difference between a religion and a cult my guy. cults are based on objects or actual temporal figures, religion is typically based on a sort of primordial or transcendent entity

people don't "blindly follow" organized religions holistically, there's literally sects and different denoms in every single religion, because they do not agree on everything

that doesn't matter. you can practice meditation and still be an atheist

you invoked meditation like that somehow singlehandedly disproves the notion of you not being an atheist of some strain

Ok I apologize for misusing the word cult but it doesn’t change the truth in any of what I said

Idk what that Reddit s*** is. I’m simply stating a fact. Is the Bible not an old ass book? I just feel people should be more independent and not simply follow a book that they were told to from birth I just thought it was ironic that conspiracy theorists tended to be very hardcore Christians. Just a funny observation and I seem to have struck a nerve with u

Ain’t christianity about loving everybody and respecting everybody?

    That’s what I was taught.

Then I learned that they don’t accept, love, or respect everybody.

    So idk man.

it's a common place atheist critique to dismiss the Bible off the basis of its age, that doesn't really say anything about its actual contents whatsoever

the Bible communicates eternal truths + wisdom, values etc. to just say it's an "old book" is reductive and pretty arrogant, it's not really a unique observation or groundbreaking point - just because something is old doesn't mean it doesn't have value

Your logic hinges on the fact that the Bible is a book that no one follows under their own will but only because they are told to? Also shouldn’t the fact that a book has survived from antiquity rather attest to its validity instead of denounce it?

I actually like the Bible as a symbolic book with its teachings. But we’re talking about the belief system

I say that just because there are a lot of inconsistencies in the Bible that people just kind’ve overlook on purpose. Also the Bible isn’t one of a kind. There are many religious texts that have stood the test of time. The oldest recorded religion is actually Hinduism. Christianity is a relatively younger religion and the influences of it can be pinpointed from older religious works
