Title basically, I want to learn how to code.
I’m a complete complete beginner, no coding experience past tumblr.

@ anyone who currently does this what does the learning curve look like? Can I be comfortable in a year?

depends on your understanding of computers in general, you can be comfortable in under a year if you're devoting time properly

"AI" isn't as cool and exciting as the buzzword sounds lol, creating your own AI means finding an application where a program can take in data and hit you with a weighted answer, like an excel file or just about anything if you can make it. I'd recommend thinking about why you want to learn it first, where do you even want to apply it?

learn all the syntax for the language Python then look into its application in machine learning you can find all this on YouTube and FreeCodeCamp.com to start. After that you might have to entertain a textbook, possibly but not necessarily true. Depends what type of learner you are

I agree with this answer for the most part. However, it is cool that you can let the algorithm converge to the optimal set of weights.
Also, if you’re thinking about use cases, I would definitely think broader than excel. For example, GANs can be trained to create beautiful images, videos, audio et cetera.
It all comes down to weights and functions, but that doesn’t make the power and use-cases of mathematics less amazing.
