I'd say over the years I developed a habit of writing down my dreams as soon as I woke up, because one: it's a whole piece of a story your brain creates for you while you sleep, and two: i heard it helped with being able to lucid dream, and there's nothing better than a lucid dream where you're able to interact with some of your fantasies

All of that aside, I wonder how much of peoples dreams influences how they look at the world, because I've had dreams lately that probably reflect so many of my thought patterns at once that they're hard to interpret at first, but later make sense.

Do your dreams influence your waking life?

It’s funny because the waking life influence the dreams and the dreams do their part on the waking life. It’s a two way street to me.

    I think so too.

I think about the concept of not being able to tell what’s reality and what’s a dream... I know people have studied it and it shows certain mental issues when u get to that point

But I’ve just been thinking on a broader scale. Escapism. Some people have nightmares and hate to fall asleep. Some people don’t want to be in their waking world and would like to be asleep as much as possible

Imagine if you could make both of them enjoyable

my dreams have changed so much lately. not sure if its a side effect of some psychedelics that ive been using for the first time or if its unrelated, but my dreams have gotten much more vivid and sometimes even simulate tripping sensations.

idk if its influencing my waking life too much but its definitely given me some cool experiences

That’s cool. I haven’t thought about it like that. It’s funny because in my dreams I just experience things as they come, without too much emotion attached to it. It’s actually really enjoyable and sometimes I wish I’d dream rather than wake. Not because I can’t bear the waking life, but just because I sometimes prefer dreaming. How do you experience yours?

I find that certain ways I see things while I’m awake have transferred to my dreams

My relationships with people, the lengths I go to entertain or please people (in a general sense)

And my ideas of being free, fulfilled, or successful, or controlled by something else, lost, and stagnant,

All Can have some effect on what happens in my dreams

And I think as long as I continue to have dreams and record them I’ll figure something out as to what I really believe deep down

    Pretty regularly I might add

Once I started writing them down I realize that most of mine are premonitions.

I totally agree with that. I sense that too. Mostly relationships and social interactions are morphed into my dreams, usually that and some other random events (like getting coffee or whatever) from that recently happened play a big role. How do you manage to keep up with a dream diary? Usually I start off pretty good and then start lacking after a week or some, I wish I could maintain. Anyway, thanks for your reply; good stuff to think about.

I just type it down in notes or something. As much as I can remember before I forget it. Not really organized tbh
