idk how her music was received abroad, but in the UK she had big pop hits while still being super inventive and experimental. One of many things that makes her a GOAT

Lmao, Lorde might win one round

the artist who reminds me most of Kate from the last few years is FKA Twigs on her last album.

But I can't think of any 2010s female artist who could go up against her in Verzuz. Maybe she should battle Kendrick or something, would be fairer

this website's weird obsession with kate bush. I wonder how often yall actually listn to her

taylor is timeless and will be a bigger legend than kate bush. her pop songwriting on 1989 is unmatched.

why would you use 1989 as proof Taylor can write?

If anything that album is her stepping back from writing.

Speak Now, Red and some of the earlier albums have a lot more solo writing from her.

1989 felt like her inserting herself in Max Martin Shellback world.

Taylor is a legend, but commercial success isn't the only thing that makes you one. Kate is way more influential and at the time, her commercial success was groundbreaking. She was the first female artist to ever have a UK #1 they'd written themselves. That proves unmatched pop songwriting more than 1989.

Kate was truly in her own lane

I found the melodies on 1989 much stronger than the melodies on any of her other albums, except maybe the folklore deepcuts like mirrorball.

It went beyond catchy, it's inexplicable. that was pop mastery. so, here I wasnt talking about lyrics, and I know she sacriiced that aspect for the sake of pop clichees.

but the melodies of Stay, How u Get The Girl, Style, New Romantics are as good as the biggest classics of Madonna, MJ and such
