I have made a colossal mistake.

For years I’ve been working towards being accepted into my dream university. I have maintained a 4.3 gpa and gained over. 65 credits in under two years.

So once March came around it was time to fill out the application to transfer to the university for computer science. Now the university I was applying to uses the common app. So each time I would select my intended area of study which was arts and sciences, the system kept changing my pick to “engineering and applied science.” So I submitted my application thinking “engineering and applied science” was what I had to pick for the computer science major.

Yesterday I was denied entry because I was supposed to apply to arts and sciences. Now I am lost because I had ONLY applied to my dream university because my admission was guaranteed. I don’t know what to do or who to contact. I have been emailing the universities office of admission office for weeks without a response. So I’m not even sure if I have a leg to stand on.

Without attending for the fall 2021 semester, that would mean I’d have to wait until fall 2022 before applying again. All of my family and friends expect me to attend my dream university. I don’t know how to tell them I was denied or a computer error.

It’s weird that you’d get rejected then based off what was a clear mistake. Have you tried speaking to the Admissions Office and is that the only University you applied to?

They don’t respond! I’ve been emailing them since March. Do you think they’ll be able to change anything since it was a computer error? I have emailed them like ten times.

damn. keep tryna get in contact with the admissions office, preferably by phone. But in the meantime look for other uni or community colleges to attend in the fall in case it don't work out and try and see if you can transfer into the school for next term

I’m honestly not sure because if you’ve been rejected, than they may have already chosen who to accept into the CS program. It’s definitely worth trying to contact Admissions via email and phone tho.

Maan..... I’ve been looking at other universities but I am not going to rest until that admissions office know what happened. I haven’t told anyone except my mother and she’s not worried at all. She’s thinks they’ll fix the error.

Try contacting with phone, pretty sure around this time emails are backed up.

But also are the requirements for the art and science program much different from the ones in applied science

That’s what I was afraid of..... I’m thinking of arguing their lack of responses to my emails since I couldn’t fix the error on my end. I’d hate to wait for spring and attend a different university because of a error out of my control.

I exceed all the requirements for their arts and science program/major. But the requirements for the engineering and applied sciences is very different and lengthy.

Dropout, this is a perfect time to reflect on life and better prepare yourself. Get a part time job and enjoy it.

This might be a blessing in disguise, who knows.

Man I’m used to doing college work and working at the same time. Like I can’t imagine sitting around the house doing nothing. I have to stay active. I also want to keep my mind fresh. If I take a year off then I may not be as sharp.
