With underground buzz from section 80, the man crossed over to a mainstream audience. Establishing himself as one of hip hops heavy weights with Gkmc and claiming he is the best on songs like control. That alone is crazy, but the story isn’t over. The man came back and dropped an all time classic album with tpab packed with so much political commentary and artistry we’ll be talking about it for generations (no exaggeration). The story’s not over. After dropping the tpab b sides he came back again and dropped DAMN. In the midst of the trap/fast food era. We’re still digesting that s***. All of this while in competition with another all time great (drake but for different reasons). I know he’s just not sure how he could top all of these achievements.
The Club Paradise tour was essential in helping him
And the Dr Dre co sign
the biggest achievement is he been with the same girl since high school
Sme girl*
You said "the story's not over" twice like this is a LOTR epic or dbz sorry op but that's funny af to me
Kendrick home rn thinking “yup that's me, you're probably wondering how i got into this situation.....”
He's too popular to fully embrace the underground, but I'm craving an angry album with Billy Woods energy after everything that went down in 2020. Something to really shock the mainstream and stir people up.
It's not like he has anything left to prove in the mainstream after DAMN and Black Panther. If he could spend the rest of his career working with legends and brilliant underground talents in the service of highly personal albums that he's feeling and not making to please anyone else, I think he has a shot at the best discography in hip hop.
What I'm actually expecting now that has a daughter and all the success he ever wanted is a very good, chill and likable dad rap album not unlike the last Danny Brown and that would be fine tbh
People over state the political commentary of TPAB. What he say on that album that was so wow and ground breaking to y’all ? Lol
Was just good music with that political aesthetic tbh

You obviously don’t know what happens when the four corners of this cocoon collides
OD had him buzzing in the underground before s.80 & that was without any major backing, but yeah true

I remember the day HiiiPower dropped and everyone was talking about it. If you went on sites like 2Dopeboyz you know. Then Section.80 dropped and he blew up overnight. Some people think he wasn't know until GKMC, but he was buzzing so hard way before that. He was performing in 3K+ crowd venues off Section.80 alone.
Man the collab album with Cole was even announced before Section.80. I used to listen to OD and KLEP on the daily and I never imagined he would go on to be the potential goat.
Then Kendrick blessed Drake with the best verse on Take Care
kendrick has nowhere to go for the next album, he has gone the serious political route, now he will go for the happy and inspirational sounds to '..like live your life and be.. happy' but he is not based god so it will miss the mark an sound a little bit like this image..
still a pitchfork 9.8 and best of luck to the man
