academia is such a massively sprawling term. what field?

academia in something like gender studies will clearly be leftist-driven, but economics is dominated by free market thinkers in the US and Europe.

Academia is usually open to new ideas and will be happy to embrace change, thus making it an inherently liberal system. I remember years ago when terms such as non binary, or “what is your preferred pronoun” , gender neutral bathrooms, “safe spaces”, micro aggressions, subconscious prejudice, the flaws of capitalism, all of that was being swept around college campuses either in seminars the college would proudly host, or thru the general discourse of professors giving their opinions on subject matter....long before the general public got around to it.

Personally I went to a community college and got a good dose of that stuff and I’m glad I was exposed to it while I went.
