Like, in this era, is he too big to make a concise 12-13 track solid album?
He spoke about this during the RR interview that he has to cater to so many fans so he can never make that kind of album.
I think that's a cop out. If Hov can make 4:44, then Drake should be able to make the album that everyone wants
Or maybe we have to accept that maybe Drake just isn't that type of artist.
IYRTITL might've been the album that we always wanted.
Thoughts?

Pause of the week!
Fixed, but it's weird that that's where your mind went

You're comparing Hov in his 50s to Drake in his prime? How many 10 track albums did Hov drop when he was still commercially relevant?

Blueprint was 12
Black album was 14
Vol2 was 14
Drake is the only artist capable of having a large concise album.
These parameters don’t apply to him. He’s the f***ing goat
he alluded to that looking back on scorpion. Seemed like clb would be more focused because of that but I think the beef got in the way of the process again. Maybe the next one

Maybe if/when his popularity dies down a bit and he's at a similar point in his career like Jay was with 4:44. Otherwise, he'd probably feel like he's not reaching/catering to his broad audience. Which yea kind of sucks

I'm not saying the subject matter has to be the same, but at this point in his career, do we really needs songs like The Bible, and basically the entire second half of CLB minus a few songs?
an artist making work with the sake of their fans in mind first isn't an artist anymore. they're a product pusher
The crazy thing about all of this is, Drake is so big that he CAN still make a 12-13 track cohesive and concise album nowadays and it will still sell a f***ing ton just like any of his previous albums. It's not like any of his fans is gonna turn on him if he does it. He wouldn't lose one single fan if he did it.
I just think at this point in his career, he doesn't want to go down that road right now. Maybe when he gets older and slows down.

Agreed, but it seems as if he's regressing as an artist.
Honest question, do you really see artistic growth?
And let me just say that Drake is one of my favorite artists ever, but as a real fan I can objectively say that I'm really not seeing the growth

do we, the core/day 1s need that? No
but to him, the numbers probably justify including songs like that. We can just hope for some of the criticism from the core listeners getting through to him

In response to my previous post about the artistic growth
Any of these songs could've been on Scorpion
It's almost cookie cutter at this point
