Egyptian slaves made $13 an hour?
so i actually did some napkin math and workers while not nominally paid (so yeah slaves) were volunteers plied with promises of meat with every meal and Exposure in 90 day stints. this roughs out to be about $6 an hour (calculated via today's cost for handfed cattle), $9 if you count other "benefits" other than the food at today's equivalent rough costs. the labor was backbreaking but if you died on the job a priest would get you a honorful ritual burial near the job site as it meant you perished in the holy enterprise of monument building for a god king (this is the Exposure i mentioned, not included in the $9 an hour figure)
from what i understand this was a good enough offer for a lot of peasants as a one off gig as a break from subsistence agriculture and whittlin or whatever.
and thats just the people hauling bricks. skilled artisans and professional craftspeople negotiated their employment for higher pay (which was also mostly in food, but you could also get silver coinage). a senior art director at the pyramids was prob making at least double that of the peasant dumb labor force, so the $13 figure is lowball honestly for both the pyramids (a goverment contract) and weta workshop
this guy literally could have made more money designing tomb wall artwork in ancient Egypt. worth giving up air conditioning and diabetes medication? no, so its a silly comparison. but they gotta start paying these visual effects vendors more man
Need your raw thoughts

Pandora and the Navi are wonderful. Really loved Jake’s arc even tho I predicted literally everything he did whether it be him flying the big dragon thing or transferring his soul into his avatar, it was beautiful and fun to watch him fall in love with pandora and neytiri. The visuals in all of the action scenes were stunning and I really hated quaritch evil ass. All around just a good movie it checks a lot of boxes, not really a dull moment in there

if by real Imax you mean a 1.43 theater like airbus smithsoneon, avatar is filmed in 1.90 for the whole movie so it wouldnt fill up the 1.43 screen. just letting you know if you traveling 3 hrs for that

As long as it's substantially bigger than the puny AMC theatres, I'm good. Which it is.
