it could have been a bank loan. you can get pretty sizable loans early on, and since it looks like (from the documents) he had a business established and was trying to get into the industry professionally the right way, its not really hard to get a business loan or credit line from a bank or third party lender even if you have minimal income so long as you have stable credit.
