He really pulls a lot of people. I was introduced to him from his podcasts with people from/ties with the comedian world + MMA world. That’s two big demographics already.

But I also think he kinda appeals to stupid dudes who take his word as gospel and see him as an elevated and enlightened male role model.

I haven’t listened too much in like 3 years but i used to listen to all of them and he gets a lot of interesting guests and is genuinely inquisitive when interviewing people and will let people speak their story. He also isn’t afraid to call someone out or ask some hard questions to dig deeper

What’s appealing about joe Rogan I don’t get it

As an interviewer, he does a really good job of getting guests to relax and open up and he is good at controlling the flow in a long form conversation format. It’s never awkward, and it is basically a trope on the show at this point how the guests are always surprised that their time is up already when the show ends.

He is also kind of just a super eager-to-learn dummy, and that lends itself to interviewing a lot of his guests, who are specialists in some field or talking about pretty esoteric concepts. It helps naturally break down stuff the guest is talking about in a more digestible way for the viewers over the course of the conversation.

He will have anyone on basically from comedians, scientists, political figures from any side, film/music stars, etc. He also is pretty unbiased in comparison to most shows in the context he interviews. Kind of a meathead but seems like a nice enough dude. People take that show WAAYYY too serious whether it's his superfans or people who kick and scream about him being popular. It's just entertainment.
