Von demon image is one of the reasons he was popping. That’s the one thing fans was clutching on. It even benefited Durk, Durk fans even acknowledge it. Durk was always more popular than Herb. Did we forget that mini mainstream run from 2014-2016 with his fake relationship with Dej and his album? Herb was always around but not touching Durk when it came to popularity. I didn’t downplay La, I said he’s dope but he wasn’t going to pass them dudes up. That’s just being 100, you can f*** with him and acknowledge that it probably wasn’t going to happen. When I said he was a shorty I don’t mean it the way you thinking. I just meant he wouldn’t be on that level they’re on.

Exactly, I’m not even on no traploreross s*** but a lot of drill fans like people who they think are actually killers which is why Von popped so fast, but L’a had the same appeal plus charisma which Durk or Keef didn’t have, not to say who did what because idk or care but i remember people f***ing w L’a more because they felt like he was actually a killer and just had a lot of personality that Durk didnt have.

And yes I remember that era, My Beyonce was a hit but that was the only mainstream thing from that era, niggas was saying Durk fell off until he got on that No Auto s*** 2014-2016 was not a great time for Durk he even says it himself, and Herb was putting up the same numbers he was literally.

Im not saying L’a wouldn’t have been bigger than Durk, especially w how big Durk is now but L’a wouldnt have been in his shadow. Von, Herb, Polo G, and even w Rooga coming up are proof that not every Chicago rapper has to be a shorty compared to Durk and I easily think L’a woulda been in that category

Bro this why I hate drill stans lmao. Niggas get mad tight when discussing them like them their blood brothers n s***. Next niggas go say Pappy could’ve been up there too.

I wouldn't say Pappy would be bigger than Durk but he definitely was a better rapper

I agree with the first point, especially the charisma part when it comes to Sosa. Cause he didn’t have it all when he blew up. Idk about now tho cause I don’t be watching his interviews n social media.

What you do to me and Gas n mud were minor hits during that time frame too. But yeah overall musically he was in a hard place during them few years.

I’m glad you mentioned Polo cause I wanted to use him as an example, but maybe saying they’re shorties compared to them two is misusing my words. But that’s just the way I talk. If my use of shorty sounded disrespectful that’s my fault. I be forgetting everyone don’t got the same lingo everywhere. Cause I didn’t mean La wouldn’t had been s***. We’ve spoke about La before so you know I f*** with him.

Yeah I wasn’t tryna say L’a would be bigger than Sosa or Durk

At the end of the day no matter what Keef is gonna be the most remembered out of that whole scene, he’s icon status

Durk is huge, and u can’t say with confidence anyone would be that big

I guess I just mean when u talk about like Herb or Von u talk about them as peers to Durk and Keef, and L’a would have been a peer while a lot of other drill rappers kinda just fall under them. I basically just mean he woulda been a front runner in the scene had he not died, or even if he did die but died a little later. L’a honestly only needed like another year to have his legacy more solidified , I think the convo about L’a would be different if he had say 2 official tapes vs 1 tape that was put together after he died

Von was the closest thing to L’a and u can tell La had a big impact on Von

He said it freezes an artist in time and he would’ve either been putting up Herbo numbers or sumn idk. I dont agree with that but I think LA’s success wouldnt be dependent on his talent.

How is Durk untouchable when Von was on his ass after rapping for a year

U didnt reply to any of my points

A lotta niggas prefer herb to Durk especially before Von got out of jail and Durk went on his 2nd run and L’a coulda easily been in that conversation too and would have been, even if he died maybe 2 years later than he did

Was Von on his ass? What were their sales like compared to each other. Von was unique. Pac type of figure

Random but I still think herb is 100% better than durk and it’s never been close at least from a rapping and artistry standpoint

Never been able to get into Herb outside of “Kill S***,” which was my favorite song for like a month when it dropped

His “Who Run It” was good, but other people had better ones. I think Boss Smooth or Dooski Tha Man even had a better “Who Run It”

Thats not true there are hella people who are with Durk just as much like Booka who arent nearly as popular as Durk and Durk took influence from Von too, Durk didnt diss niggas by name nearl as much until Von got home thats facts

And Im talking about rap in general not within Chicago, and thats not facts Herb was performing just as well as Durk until Durk really hit the gas recently, so theres no proof to say it was a “small minority” when they were both putting up similar #s and Durk and Herb both played the same venues when they come to my city

And you said L’a woulda stayed a shorty compared to Keef and Durk which is stupid, you can try and act like u just said Durk and Keef woulda been bigger but u downplayed L’a when u literally have no way to know what L’a would be doing now, but he died basically at 16 years old and still has impact today so whose to say he woulda burned out by 2016 maybe he woulda but theres literally nothing that leads to show that, u have no idea how his music coulda continued to progress he was literally still getting better when he died

I’m not even saying he would be bigger than Durk bc Durk has went on an amazing run but to say L’a woulda been a shorty compared to Durk is dumb and disrespectful, because L’a wouldn’t have even wanted to be under Durk he literally turned down an OTF deal and Keef is a legend but he’s out the way of current mainstream music, u cant really compare Keef to any of them he put them all on the map

That’d be like if Durk died in 2012 and we only had I’m Still A Hitta and I was saying Durk didnt have any potential to be a star, like u literally dont know what improvements an artist can make and L’a was already snapping

There’s honestly no way to know. It’s just a little unlikely

2 chains my favorite song on there it captures what he does best as a rapper so well

You got a point, I didn’t even realize what I was doing. I meant no disrespect but now I see how it can seem how I was downplaying him. I do believe he could’ve been one of the main faces of drill, he could rap his ass off and still drop bops. Yeah if he had a catalog of projects it probably would be different. It just suck he never got the chance to kill s***.
