Never place family members on a pedestal. They can be just as toxic in your life as anyone else really.
Don't stress on small stuff that isn't relevant in the big picture like i.e. being hard on yourself for doing something embarassing.
In the end no one cares about it most of the time and since we only have one life it's not worth it spendiing your time regretting or dwelling on the past.

Such an important ethos. To paraphrase Epictetus, suffering is not derived from what happens to you, but how you react to what happens to you. I find this really hard to put into practice.
don’t have expectations
This has served me well. I either have no or low expectations—which really helps you avoid disappointment. It’s a dangerous game to play tho cause (at least in my case) it can lead to really self-deprecating thought patterns

Do you think so? What about stuff you earn—like when you get a job cause you’re qualified, for example? That can’t be all luck lol
