I used to suspect they were just pretentious hipsters who want to seem real "hardcore"
Ngl one time I tried to listen to a noise project and focus to get what the fuss is all about and it was on a Friday noon, my whole family was home and I was blasting it through my speakers with the door open.
Needless to say they were like WTF and after that roasted me the entire lunch.

One could make the argument that noise music are experiments in pushing sound design further , although in an uncomfortable manner that’s usually not a good listening experience which I suppose could be appealing to some people
