One of the best producers ever in the entire music industry. Not just Hip Hop, Bruk, Drum N Bass, House, all things electronic. 1/2 of 4Hero.

This series consists of 6 tapes, over 4 hours. It's another drop.

Here's a sample from a track called I am Fred Hampton. When you hear the soundbite from historical archives, you will know why it is called that.

    summary -

“Marc Mac- In 2005 I started a series of mixtapes with the goal of capturing significant Black historical movements and events. With a backdrop of hip-hop beats and grooves, I spent weeks searching for what I felt were soundbites that when pieced together could tell a story. The idea was to have some kind of history book on wax, some form of a time capsule I could pass onto the next generation, my kids. So from “It’s Right To Be Civil” to “Invisible Soldier” I set out to create a history lesson that wasn’t taught in schools or were not widely known within the community and at times I felt these key events were intentionally suppressed. Here we are in 2020 and it feels more relevant than ever to share black historical stories and pass on the information, hope it inspires you to dig deeper.”

This is some clever next level s*** that shows a lot of vision love and attention to detail. Masterful with the chopping and sample selection and choices of historical dialogue samples. You can stream it on band camp or stream it on my link which I added for this post.

Man of the moment Marc Mac drops yet another gem as a very limited MP3 only download that highlights America's civil rights issues and the struggles of the people of the deep south.Much in the same vein as his Chess compilation with a strong hip hop and soul influence. There are many samples of speeches and news reports from the era highlighted interwoven with heavy beats and lush samples. His use of Marvin Gaye's vocals at one point are a real highlight.I hope that this gets picked up and released as his Chess work did even if its only in limited numbers. “

“Marc Mac (4hero) returns with another Mixtape Style album following on from 'Extend The Knowledge" & "It's Right To Be Civil". Beats are intertwined with soundbites from the 1960's Vietnam War protest era where African Americans were sent to fight in Vietnam during the Civil Rights period in the USA.
"The Vietnam War saw the highest proportion of blacks ever to serve in an American war. During the height of the U.S. involvement, 1965-69, blacks, who formed 11 percent of the American population, made up 12.6 percent of the soldiers in Vietnam. The majority of these were in the infantry, and although authorities differ on the figures, the percentage of black combat fatalities in that period was a staggering 14.9 percent, a proportion that subsequently declined. Volunteers and draftees included many frustrated blacks whose impatience with the war and the delays in racial progress in America led to race riots on a number of ships and military bases, beginning in 1968, and the services' response in creating interracial councils and racial sensitivity training. . . .
