Looking back, did the NBA suspending the season trigger the shutdown of the rest of the country?
Yeah NBA triggered it for sure.
That and cancelling March Madness. Once the whole tournament was cancelled they sent everyone in my job to work from home until further notice. I knew s*** was not going away anytime soon after that.
damn, good video. the part where the writer from the atlantic said that the reason BLM became such a conversation is because we aren't distracted from sports, that s*** is real
There was a 30 minutes stretch where Trump stopped foreign travel on tv then right after that NBA suspended season. Was bizarre.

Dave said the same thing about the Dallas shooting when all those officers died.
He said nobody really freaked cause Kobe retired and it was a news story to keep every calm instead of rioting.
i will never forget where i was when i read the news
Right when that happened I went to get a haircut cause I knew s*** was about to get real

I've been thinking about this a lot since it happened and highkey yeah. Shams tweeting "The NBA has suspended its season" is a moment to me where I'll always remember where I was and what I was doing when I got the notification. And then the day after you had NCAA conferences cancelling their conference tournaments one by one until the NCAA announcement that all of march madness was cancelled... Incredibly eerie feeling and although I know everything wasn't shut down because of the NBA, the NBA being the first domino to fall is the event I will always remember as the "kick-off" of the coronavirus era
I think a large part of the eeriness (at least for me) was holding on to a little sliver of hope like things would be able to continue as normal, but knowing in the back of my mind that they were about to change for a while in a big way.
No, when the Bond film said they were pushing back to Thanksgiving then fights were being cancelled after
definitely wasn't until hearing both rudy gobert and tom hanks tested positive, then the nba being cancelled all in the same 15 minute timespan that it really hit me how crazy this was/about to be
went to walmart that night too and the shelves were completely empty, line ups everywhere. felt like some end of the world s***.
