For the people that have a Mac and don’t use streaming (local files only), how has the experience of moving from iTunes to Music with the Mac OS upgrade been?

I am on Mojave so still have iTunes. I am tempted to upgrade but have seen there are lots of bugs, especially around artwork. Has Music been good for people who have upgraded?

It’s the exact same experience for me outside of not having the extra store and podcast buttons

I have Apple Music tho but use my local files for the cloud. Didn’t notice anything different tbh. Pretty similar set up they literally just airlifted the Music portion out of it for its own app

Did you have any issues with disappearing album artwork?

For my local files no. Mostly everything been good

Only recent art problems i had were related to Apple Music customizations I made. The artwork i changed for 1999 by Prince only had disappeared just on my computer cus the art wasn't applied to tracks 1-3 of the album. Overall no tho

The Mac Apple Music app is actually pretty good for me. I've got about over 20gb of downloaded music into my library & when I need to sync it, I just go to File > Library > Update Cloud Library.

The application is much faster as well & battery life is doing alright. The design I was not too fond of in the beginning but it grew on to me.

The search feature is unbelievably trash on the new Music app. Everything else is fine.

Adding on to my reply, this is how my library is looking like currently. I've had no issues really.

    You can do option/alt - apple/command - F for the old search

having dark mode is always great

its faster then itunes which was more cluttered and overstuffed

if they keep updating it will be really good

They somehow made a clunky app even clunkier.

Only certain views will allow you to use the "Get album artwork" command, and even then you have to select certain things to get it to pop up.
